Dissonant Witchcraft
Frequently Asked Questions
Answers on Elektron sound packs and synth presets, royalty-free licensing, downloads, 1-on-1 sound design lessons and booking.
Sound Packs, Samples & Synth Presets
Which instruments are your Elektron sound packs and synth presets made for?
Dissonant Witchcraft sound libraries and preset packs are handcrafted for hardware synthesizers and samplers, including Digitone II, Digitone, Digitakt II, Digitakt, Syntakt, Tonverk, Analog Four and ASM Hydrasynth – alongside universal WAV sample packs for any sampler and software synthesizers such as Arturia Pigments.
Use the filters on the start page to narrow the packs down by type, platform and genre. Every product page lists the compatible hardware and, where relevant, firmware requirements.
Do the Hydrasynth Noise Alchemy patches work on every ASM Hydrasynth model, including the Explorer?
Yes. Hydrasynth Noise Alchemy is compatible with all ASM Hydrasynth models – Explorer, Keyboard, Deluxe and Desktop. Every Hydrasynth has exactly the same sound engine and loads the same patches, so the sounds are identical whichever model you own.
The patches respond to aftertouch (including polyphonic aftertouch on the models that offer it) and the mod wheel, and every patch comes with extensive macro control that can turn a sound completely upside down with a single knob.
To load the patches onto your synth, use the Hydrasynth Manager, which is included with the firmware download from ASM. More details and audio demos are on the Hydrasynth Noise Alchemy page.
Why do you sell through Ko-fi and Gumroad?
Both platforms are established, secure marketplaces for digital downloads. They process your payment safely and give you a back-end from which you can download your files again, including updates of a pack.
Gumroad deducts a 10% fee from every sale, so Ko-fi is the better choice if you want more of your payment to reach the creator.
Do you offer sales, discounts or Black Friday deals?
No. Instead of running sales, I price every sound pack low from the start, so the regular price is already the sale price. This keeps the entry barrier low for everyone and spares you the countdown timers, fake “limited-time” offers and Black Friday hype that nobody enjoys. Buy the sounds when you need them, not when a timer tells you to.
How do I download and install Elektron presets and sample packs after purchase?
Orders are processed securely via Ko-fi or Gumroad. Right after checkout you receive an immediate digital download link. Every pack includes a simple installation guide and useful tips, so you can load the presets, patterns and samples onto your device, for example with Elektron Transfer.
One of my sound packs has an update with more sounds. How do I retrieve it?
Check your e-mails: after a purchase, Ko-fi and Gumroad send you a link to retrieve your downloads. Updates, such as additional sounds or bonus patterns, are delivered through the same platform, so you can always download the current version of your pack from there.
Elektron Transfer shows an error message. What should I do?
Check that your Elektron device has the latest official firmware installed, because older firmware versions can fail to load newer presets, projects or samples. Update the firmware and try the transfer again.
If the error message persists, send me your device model, the firmware version and the exact error text via the contact form.

License & Usage Rights
Are the sound packs, patches and samples royalty-free?
Yes. Every sample, sound and preset sold on Dissonant Witchcraft is 100% royalty-free. You can use them in commercial music releases, Spotify streams, live performance sets, film scoring, game audio and media production without paying any extra royalties or clearing additional licenses.
The included patterns are a bonus and provided for educational purposes only.
Can I use these sounds and presets in my commercial music?
Yes. You are granted a license to use all presets and audio samples in both commercial and non-commercial projects, provided they are incorporated into a complete music composition, such as a finished song.
Who owns the rights to the presets and samples?
All synth presets and audio samples remain the intellectual property of Dissonant Witchcraft. By purchasing a pack you acquire a license to use the sounds, not the copyright itself.
Can I use these sounds to make my own sample pack or sound library?
No. You may not re-use, modify or isolate the sounds or presets to build competing sample packs, sound libraries, software instruments or standalone sound effect collections.
Can these sounds or presets be used for AI training?
No. Using any files from a pack to train, fine-tune or model AI or machine learning algorithms is strictly prohibited.
Do I automatically agree to these terms when purchasing?
Yes. Purchasing or downloading a pack constitutes full agreement to these terms of use.
